New Feature: Calorie Search - Now on Yahoo! Messenger

October 15th, 2009

Response for Calorie Search on GTalk was phenomenal (actually it made us upgrade our servers!) and we loved your feedback on it. Calorie Search on GTalk made quite a buzz in the media as well. Few of our users working with media houses loved it so much, that they got it published in a few major places.

Today, we make the Calorie Lookup even more accessible by launching the calorie lookup using your favorite Instant Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger.

Now you can access the calorie content of any food item or the calorie burnt by any activity, by sending the name of the food item or activity as a chat message to calories.lifemojo (You would have to add calories.lifemojo to your friend list first)

Eg. Message rice to calories.lifemojo and you would get a response with a list of different types of rice verities and their calorie content as a response.

To get detailed information about any item, send the exact name like pongal to calories.lifemojo and you would get a response with the details.

Hope you will find this useful. As always, we are looking forward to your feedback and suggestions.

The recommendation may help older individuals, who can be less likely to fulfil this requirement, yet are more at risk for chronic diseases associated with aging.

New Year Resolutions

January 1st, 2009

Each year, millions of people follow the annual ritual of making New Year’s resolutions. Some will succeed, some will stumble. What is the secret to New Year’s resolution success?

Lot of you would have made a New Year resolution to lose weight / get back in shape / build stunning six pack abs etc. It is good to have a healthy new year resolution, but it is also important to understand how to get there. The resolve is strong initially, so in order to get to reach our goal fast, we often tend to take short cuts like crash diets or working out too hard. Keep in mind that its your New Year’s resolution and not first few days of New Year’s resolution. You have to be able to sustain the weight loss or workouts to get to your goal. We would advise you to go slow and steady to win this race!

A 3-4 Kgs weight loss per month is the recommended rate at which you should lose weight. If you stick to this range per month, the weight loss is more likely to be permanent than the quick weight loss that you would regain soon.

Small changes can make a major impact. Start walking for 30 minutes, five times a week and see the difference. This would also lower the risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, colon cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure etc.
