January 6th, 2009

Rajiv at WATBlog tried out and loved the Calorie Seach using GTalk, a feature we launched 3 days back. Till now we have had 42 users use this service in just 3 days of the launch. Here is what he had to say:

I just stumbled upon Lifemojo’s blog the new startup we covered a while back and came across a new tool launch which I completely loved.

All in all this is one of the most useful and intelligent tools ive seen in a longtime.

Thank you Rajiv for your kind words, we are glad that you like our calorie lookup feature. Hope we would continue to help you on your weight loss mission :)

Rajiv had reviewed LifeMojo on WATBlog earlier on 16th November.

Update: We have 124 user using Calorie Search on GTalk till now. Which means 82 new Users in one day (7th Jan).

Calorie Search - Now on GTalk

January 3rd, 2009

Lot of you had appreciated calorie lookup on LifeMojo, so we had introduced Calorie Lookup on Mobile around a month ago. Your response to the Mobile Calorie Lookup has been phenomenal! we thank you all for that and in order to make the Calorie Lookup even more accessible, today we are launching the calorie lookup using your favorite Instant Messenger GTalk or the Chat in Gmail.

Now you can access the calorie content of any food item or the calorie burnt by any activity, by sending the name of the food item or activity as a chat message to calories@lifemojo.com (You would have to add calories@lifemojo.com to your friend list first)

Eg. Message rice to calories@lifemojo.com and you would get a response with a list of different types of rice verities and their calorie content as a response.

To get detailed information about any item, send the exact name like lemon rice to calories@lifemojo.com and you would get a response with the details.

Hope you will find this useful. As always, we are looking forward to your feedback and suggestions.

Gardening Helps Elderly To Keep Them Fit

January 1st, 2009

As per an article on MedIndia, gardening helps elderly to keep them fit. It doesn’t take a geniues to figure out that since ganrdening is a moderate physical activity, it is good for health, what’s interesting in the report is that just 30 minutes on gardening everyday is enough for elderly to keep them fit.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the American College of Sports Medicine has recommended that at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity on most days of the week can help maintain and improve optimal health.

The recommendation may help older individuals, who can be less likely to fulfil this requirement, yet are more at risk for chronic diseases associated with aging.

More on it here.
