Calorie Budgeting

January 1st, 2009

As per the calorie based weight loss research of USDA, it is suggested that to lose 1 pound you need to consume 3500 calories less or burn 3500 calories more than your Body Requirement.

Based on this research, we created Weekly and Daily Calorie Budgets for you to keep you on track to reach your weight loss goal.

What is my Weekly Calorie Budget?

Your Weekly Calorie Budget is the total number of calories that you should limit to in a week, to achieve your goal.

How do you calculate that?

The amount of calories that your body requires to function depends on your Age, Gender, Height, Weight and your daily activity level. From all the data that you fill up in your profile, we calculate the number of calories that your body usually needs. As per your goal (that you set on LifeMojo), we calculate the number of calories that you would have to reduce in the food intake and show the difference as your Calories budget.

What is my Weekly Progress?

We split your weekly calorie budget in to 7 equal parts and show you the calorie budget for a day. We understand that all your days cannot be alike, you would be able to save more calories than required on some days and you might want to go out and enjoy once in a while (which is ok!). So we keep track of your weekly calorie budget and add up all the calories that you save from your food budget in your previous days.

How do I increase my Calorie Budget?

The best way to increase your Calorie Budget is to increase your daily activities. As you log your activities on LifeMojo, we increase your food budget for that day and for that week as well.
