MVP – Getting an advisor onboard
Starting with a feeling “We would soon conquer the world” is nice, but we needed someone to put sanity into our actions to build this company. We had been looking up to the awesome entrepreneurs in our past companies till now (Vinay, Niranjan, Harsh, Rohit, Amit from FlightRaja; Ganapathy from MyDuniya, Sourabh from ngpay), and now it was time for us to be like those awesome people and live the dream. We had already got our first B2B customer Dr. Shikha Sharma in Delhi and now it was time to execute the project well.
We had been having discussions on the need of an advisor for our company, but weren’t actively approaching people for that. I and Himanshu were in Delhi to setup the operations at Dr. Shikha Sharma’s Clinic when Varun read an interesting post on contentSutra and then we found out that MVP team was coming to Proto too. We all discussed about them over phone and decided to approach them after Sameer’s talk on 18th July. As expected they were surrounded by people after Sameer’s talk, and we didn’t want to be just someone in the crowd. I met Nandini on 19th July and we talked about LifeMojo and MVP.
They had a few questions in the form of a questionnaire that they wanted us to answer. From our “Art of the Start Day” (The day we all read “The Art of the Start” by Guy Kawasaki, and followed all the tips mentioned in there) we had answers to most of these questions ready. One question that we had the most fun answering was “The story behind the venture”. We wanted to give them the true story, but the story was funny. We wanted to sound serious and professional, but we decided to have a little fun, and gave them my weight loss story.
Cutting the long story short, we saw a huge value that the MVP team would bring in and hopefully they felt the same about us. We got selected as part of their batch 2 companies and we are happy about it!
